I woke up back in the cabin. Why was my pillow wet? I realized what happened and leapt to my feet.

My right knee rewarded me with a shot of pain, a rough reminder of in whose body I was in. I rushed out of the room and headed straight toward the command center.

Out of the window, I glimpsed the island with a military base on its top. And the two other destroyers floated on the sea in sight. Wrong.

I ran toward the command center, but two soldiers blocked my path just in front of the door. “You cannot enter there,” one of them said.

“Tell Baraquiel that Lucas needs to talk to her. Immediately.”

They stood frozen for a moment. But the urgency of my voice seemed to have convinced them, so one of them slid into the war room, closing the door behind himself.

A moment later, the door opened, and Amaranta stepped out, wearing a full VI uniform, accompanied by the soldier. Wordless, she grabbed me by the shoulder, and led me to a maintenance room by the side.

She pushed me against the boxes by the wall, and slammed the door shut. “What are you doing?” she shouted. “I literally poured a bucket of cold water on your face and you didn’t even twitch.”

“I was dreamwalking.”

“Partially true. What precisely were you doing?”

I sighed. “That’s irrelevant. But you need to change the ship deployment, or this will be an absolute disaster.”

“First, tell me what you were doing, honestly.” She kept glaring at me as if wanting to make my head explode. “If the deployment is so important, then tell me the truth.”

“Fine.” I raised my chin. “I was shagging four succubi and they were so good that I lost the track of time.”

Her cheeks flushed and eyes widened. “How do you even shag someone for fourteen hours?”

“In the Void, I never get tired, thirsty, or hungry, and I’ve learned many tricks from the succubi over the past six years, so I can go for as long as I please, no matter with whom.” This time, I started glaring. “Now, make the whole fleet redeploy because all of the ships fit into a five-mile radius, which is within the range of all of my most destructive spells.”

White noise sounded from the speakers spread through the entire ship, followed by a beep. And then a girly voice announced: “I am Lillith, daughter of Lucifer, and I have come for the chains of St. Paul. You have ten minutes to hand them over. Fail to do so and I will obliterate you.”
